Baros:
1. Excellent pace, and decent ball control.
2. Brilliant work rate but makes poor decisions, can’t hold up the ball, poor link-up play.
3. Good first touch, good finisher.
4. Entertaining player to watch – I do sometimes miss him.
5. Was never really a team-player and was sold because he didn’t fit into Rafa’s system. Would’ve fetched 10m-12m if we’d have sold him right after Euro 2004 but instead we got about 6m for him. Had his part to play in winning the European Cup (lovely flick to Gerrard in play for getting the penalty that equalized.)
A very frustrating player for us, he has one major problem and that is the fact that he really is an individual player, he does not look for passes and plays with his head down at his feet. He also struggles to actually jump for the ball, preferring instead to back into an opposing player to try to get the ball at his feet. But aside from that he is a great player, his running ability and his finishing if brilliant, when he gets a chance he will take it, and with a decent return of goals in an injury frustrated season, 10 in 23 starts, we can rely on him for years to come as the number one striker at Villa Park…on top form this guy is something special
